. . . everything can be taken from a man except one thing: the last of the human freedoms–to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.
In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart.
On this date — September 2 — in 1944, Anne Frank was among 1,019 people on the 68th and last train from Holland to Auschwitz. Anne and others hiding with her had been betrayed and captured a month before and held in the Westerbork detention center.
The Frank family had gone into hiding two years earlier, in July 1942, after Anne’s sister, Margot, received a call-up notice to report for deportation to a labor camp.
Anne was at Auschwitz for two months, then at Bergen-Belsen, where she and Margot died four months later of typhus, just a few weeks before the camp was liberated.
Anne’s father, Otto, was liberated from Auschwitz by the Russian Army on January 27, 1945. His wife, Edith, had died the previous day.
Otto Frank was taken first to Odessa and then to France before being allowed to return to Amsterdam. He did not learn the whereabouts of his daughters until October 24, when he received a letter informing him they had died at Bergen-Belsen.
This unfortunately was not an unusual family trajectory for European Jews in the 1940s. Anne Frank is remembered from among millions of others because she maintained a blog — I mean diary — so that her experiences, what she did, the thoughts she had, and everything she suffered was not lost.
I suppose the same holds true for everyone, with or without a diary — nothing is lost, nothing can be undone . . . and it may be possible for a life that appears to be quite pointless at the time to attain a meaning, a purpose, even through suffering, failure and death . . .
anne frank….
what simple girl she is…
but why does anne frank not close with her mother?
i haven`t read the novel ..
but i`ve watched d` DVD..hehehhe
Has anybody heard about that Barbro Karlen stuff? Because it has confused the crap out of me.
Although I do feel bad for Anne, isn’t it unfair that we only think of her, even though thousands of jews died during the holocaust.
Personally I find Anne’s diary more impressive because of its insight to teenagerdom.
PS: To all of you Anne’s “reincarnations”; bite me. Oh, and also, it’s spelled anonymous, not Annonumus. So, please, next time you want to pretend, check your spelling first. 😉
Oh yeah, and you so-called neo-nazis/ jew-haters, give it up- accept that you lost- or, failing that, go die in a hole. 🙂

Ok you guys are ALL NUTS IM SURE U think u are ann frank and that your friends look like someone in anns life its crazy!!!
GET HELP!
everybody WISHES they could be the reincarnation of somebody famous and adored like Anne Frank or Marilyn Monroe or whatever, but the fact is…not all of you can be anne frank! and honestly i doubt anyone on this site is (given the probability of the 1 reincarnation out of 6billion+ people on earth being on this webpage) the reincarnation of Anne. or anyone else famous for that matter. if reincarnation is real at all, which i somewhat believe in, then more likely you are just the reincarnation of another holocaust victim or a farmer, etc.
oh and also, to whoever asked ‘where is the tomb’ i hope you are just kidding and not really that ignorant about anne and margot’s fate. there is no tomb…only a mass grave historians say they would have been buried in. Its impossible to know which mass grave exactly though.

This is an amazing story!Ever since I’ve seen Anne Frank I’ve wondered if she & her family are some of Alyson Stoner’s ancestors! They really look alike!!!!!!!!!
i read the diary like 3 times…
it’s crazy what she went thought… she made history and because of her somthing like that will never ever happen again.
i wish that thaat never happened to her, if it didnt then we wouldn’t of had the stuff we got now..
she has oppened the eyes of soo many people.

In my opinion, this diary was the saddest thing that I have heard. To some people Anne Frank may seem silly and she may seem stupid, but hello? That was World War 2! I mean what are you supposed to do laugh that you are part of a war where you are sent to an extermination camp for being a Jew. That wasn’t fair. The Nazi’s and especially Hitler were racists. To all those people out there who may think that her story and life are weird, I think that you don’t understand all the pain that she had to go through, how she might have suffered with typhus and being away from family, not seeing her true love again, and not even being able to go to school which she loved. Remember, before you start making silly comments about her, think about how your life would be in the worst time in history, the mass murdering of millions of Jews! Become her, and then you will realise how brilliant she is and how brave to stay alive through out most of the war!
get a life peter. that book was the best. whoever you are, you don’t have a brain for history. i read that book like when i was in the fifth grade and it almost made me cry about all the those people dying. did anyone read hana’s suitcase. that was sad too how she died in a gas chamber.well i will always remember anne and next time i will resist from crying while reading the diary.
I just finished watching the movie about 30 mins ago and even though I knew the ending, I cried my eyes out when they were captured. Just to know that Anne and her family stayed strong for that long and even at the time of capture just grabbed each other made me feel soooo sad for her and her family. I was lucky enough to go through Anne Franks house while I was in Amsterdam for a volleyball trip. Going through the house at that time, I felt sad, but didn’t really know much about Anne Frank and her situation. After the tour through the house, I bought the book and read it and now having watched the movie, I really feel deep emotion. I’m not a “cryer”, but Anne Frank and her family touched my heart in ways that no one else has. I respect everyone in that for going through what they had to go through and the memory of Anne Frank and her family will live on forever.
