    I’ll think about that the next time I eat meat offered to idols. After all, that’s the Middle Iron Age context of Paul’s thoughts.

    Never mind that, three verses later, he writes: “Give none offence….”

    Then, a verse later, the writer adds: “Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many….”

    One of the more interesting things about the Bible is that, especially when taken out of context, it can be used to justify virtually any course of action.

    Given the various biblical twists and even contradictions, one might reasonably say there is a Jesus for every occasion!

    Who needs polytheism when the Judeo-Christian tradition offers so much diversity?
