Underneath his wisecracking after being deprived of his rightfully earned championship, Muhammad Ali was actually one of the more decent men I’ve met in my life. I didn’t get the impression that he was quite as stuck on himself as his public persona projected.
Unlike most public figures I’ve met, Ali exhibited rock solid core values that he would not compromise. Although he made a fortune, I don’t think he was ever for sale.
