I’m reading Marcus Aurelius’ Meditations when my son, referring to the cover photo above the author’s name, says, “Who’s that? Zeus?”

“No,” I say.

“Caesar?”

“No. It’s Marcus Aurelius.”

“Hmmm. That seemed too obvious.”
