Just Say No to Meetings

No one likes meetings, but we can’t stop having them

Many of my co-workers say they spend too much time in meetings. I notice that they keep going to the meetings though.

If I really thought I was spending too much time in meetings and I kept going anyway, I would have to question my own integrity.

I’ve missed two meetings in the last 6 months for what I thought were very good reasons, illness and moving residences. I was questioned (read “harassed”) about it both directly and indirectly each time. The time I skipped the meeting because I was moving, I told the meeting leader I wouldn’t be there and why, and the next thing I knew, I was hearing about it in my one-on-one meeting with my manager, because they were talked to by their director, who was talked to by their director, who was talked to by the meeting leader. WTF, there’s no way I’m skipping a stupid meeting again unless I’m dead. Some people suck.
