Today is our dog’s second birthday, my son informs me.
“Every day is a birthday for that dog,” I say.
“We didn’t get him any gifts,” the boy says.
“We’ll take him to the dog park, and when we get home, we’ll give him a chicken strip.”
“We do that every day.”
“Like I said, every day’s a birthday for him. What do I get every day? A kick in the teeth, that’s what.”
“Let’s order him a pizza,” the boy suggests.
