Thomas Jefferson on the Stimulus Package

Thomas Jefferson

The situation could not be more serious. It is inexcusable and irresponsible for any of us to get bogged down in distraction, delay or politics as usual while millions of Americans are being put out of work. Now is the time for Congress to act.

Bah-loney. The American economy will bounce back as it always has, as surely as day follows night, no matter what anyone does or doesn’t do.

The only urgency in passing a stimulus bill (which doesn’t work, as I’ve explained previously) is so President Obama can take the credit for the recovery when it occurs . . .

Are you going to whine about this for the next 8 years? We get it…you’re a Republican…you voted the wrong way during the last election…we’re sorry you lost. Really, we truly are…four years of this bitching is about all we can take. Please, make a more informed decision during the next election!

    And have some pie…

    Hi MS –

I have to correct several misstatements in your comment.

    1. I’m not a Republican. I am the co-founder (with James Madison) of the Democratic-Republican party.

    2. I was not able to vote in the last election because I’m dead.

    3. I’m a statesman and a political philosopher, not a whiner.

    TJ-

    1. Yes, that is the name of the party you co-founded, but since you’re also considered a leader in developing republicanism in the United States, the terms “Republican” or “Old Republican” still apply to you and your political beliefs.

    2. Being dead does not always stop people from voting…

    3. Then quit whining…

You are a feisty one! You must be a lot of fun on a date — except I’ve heard the sex is not good with two-dimensional cartoon characters.
