My son’s team, MPC Bulls Blue, is playing in the NARCh 12-and-under Squirt Silver division. Sixteen teams qualified in this division. Each team will play four round-robin games, after which the top eight teams will be seeded into the quarterfinals.
Game 1 – 9:00 A.M. vs. Tour Stallions
Don’t know anything about the Tour Stallions, except that they’re from Colorado, and Colorado is a pretty good hockey town.
Most of the Bulls kids flew in yesterday, and most got delayed by weather. One boy didn’t get in until 5 o’clock this morning and is still asleep back at the hotel. He will miss the first game. Two other kids got in at 3 a.m. but are here and ready to play.
Final score: Bulls 5, Stallions 1.
The next game’s not till 6:30 tonight, so we kill some time with a game of miniature golf, a driving tour of the local area, then back to the hotel pool for a swim.
Around 4 o’clock, the rains return. We take a short nap, and head back to the arena for Game 2.
Game 2 – 6:30 P.M. vs. Gulf Coast Storm Black
Gulf Coast Storm Black is a local Florida team. We saw these kids play this morning . . . they beat a not-so-good California team, 8-0. That’s as bad as you can beat a team in a roller hockey tournament, because when one team goes up by 8 goals, the mercy rule kicks in and the game’s over.
Final score: Bulls 4, Storm 1.
